Tortini: “We have built our success on creativity and innovation”
After more than thirty years of career and the founding of a leading company like Cosmoproject – an emblem of Italian excellence in the cosmetics industry – Primo Tortini, born in 1947, still manages to be amazed.
The occasion is the awarding of the Cosmast 2024 Certificate of Excellence by the Second-Level Master’s Program in Cosmetic Science and Technology at the University of Ferrara, recognizing, as stated in the citation, “his constant commitment to promoting Italian innovation worldwide and his continuous contribution to the cosmetic sector.”
Presenting the award and illustrating the reasons behind it were Benedetto Lavino, President of the National Association of Cosmetic Companies, together with Stefano Manfredini and Giovanni D’Agostinis, respectively Director and member of the Master’s Board – D’Agostinis also serving as Scientific Director of the journal Kosmetica.
Founder of Cosmoproject S.p.A. in 1993, Tortini has turned the company into a benchmark for major Italian and international brands. Its formulations cover skincare, hair care, make-up, and fragrance products for the pharmacy, mass market, perfumery, and professional beauty channels.
“We have always focused,” explains the CEO, “on our true strengths: the ability to design innovative formulas through a good dose of creativity and to identify targeted active ingredients – effective yet original. Our Research & Development Laboratory enjoys an excellent reputation and is a source of great pride for the company.”
It is in the laboratory that ideas take shape and continuous innovation comes to life.
Cosmoproject boasts an extensive formulation heritage – more than 400 formulas developed over the past year – and holds an exclusive patent for ozonized sunflower oil combined with alpha-bisabolol.
“Ozone is our habitat,” continues Tortini, “and it has been the focus of significant investments in research and studies. It has been evaluated by universities and institutes in Italy as well as international organizations. The results are outstanding in terms of both regenerating and sanitizing properties. Those investments have paid off.”
Not only that: they have also led to the launch of medical devices on the market and to the expansion of the company’s international client base.
With over 300 employees, an annual production exceeding 76 million units, and a strong commitment to social responsibility and sustainability, Cosmoproject stands as a virtuous model of outstanding Italian entrepreneurship.
